In 2020, we tried sourdough starters and cooked with beans (a lot), we set up remote offices from our kitchen islands and packed our dishwashers to a breaking point. Why not start next year with a fresh coat?

Cue: Benjamin Moore’s Color of the Year for 2021: Aegean Teal. While we love a good all-white kitchen, the seafoam hue couldn’t be better suited to cabinets. The soothing shade is almost meditative and, according to the paint brand, “it radiates warmth and wellbeing”—two things most of us look for when making a cup of coffee in the morning or grabbing a late-night snack. Not to mention its’ ocean-esque flair is almost a mini escape in itself.

Of course, Benjamin Moore doesn’t stop at just one hue when it comes to paint trends. There’s a whole palette to complement their chosen shade: buttery yellows that radiate sunshine, earthy clays to complement windowsill herb gardens, and deep plums to set the mood for a cozy night in.

We’re all looking to improve our kitchens in some way, whether it’s by expanding our pantries or installing a second dishwasher. But save for adding a Vitamix to our Amazon cart, a coat of paint may be the easiest mood-boosting update.
