When planning a kitchen renovation, there are lots of things to consider. What color cabinets will you choose? What about the backsplash? Should we splurge or save on our surfaces? If there’s one thing we can all agree on, it’s that sorting out the total cost and budgeting accordingly is at the top of everyone’s priority list.

And while we’re here to help make your custom-looking (and feeling!) kitchen dreams come true, we know figuring out how much your IKEA cabinet bases and Semihandmade fronts will cost hasn’t always been the easiest. Which is why our team has been hard at work creating a Cost Estimator Tool.

Medium sized black Semihandmade kitchen rendering

With this new tool, you can figure out an approximate total cost for your cabinet materials in a matter of minutes. No more calling or emailing to see if our fronts are right for your kitchen renovation needs. Simply choose the size of your kitchen: Small (5-10 cabinets), Medium (11-20 cabinets), or Large (20+ cabinets). Then, it’s time to select your style of front. Our thermofoil colored fronts, Impression wood-like fronts, DIY paintable options, designer collaborations, and Walnut doors are all unique in both style and cost. From there, you can upload IKEA kitchen plans if you have them. If you’re still in the “thinking about it” stage and don’t yet have plans, that works, too! For a limited time, you can enter your information and receive a code for two free samples. And voila! Your free quick estimate is ready to go.

Want to compare styles? Sizes of kitchens? Click around! You can even download your estimate and save a PDF that includes itemized pricing for a more exact look at what your potential order could look like. If you decide to start your order, it’s probable the final cost will be a bit higher or lower depending on the exact needs of your space. But Team Semihandmade is so excited to share this new website feature with you to help make calculating your kitchen renovation budget a better experience.

Renovation

We don’t believe that renovations should be daunting. The key is to arm yourself with the right knowledge, people, and products to achieve your goals. It also helps to ask the right questions: How much does it cost to renovate a kitchen? How do I find the right general contractor in my area? Where do I even start if I’ve never remodeled before? This is where we come in. Through hard-to-believe before and afters, first-person renovation accounts, and step-by-step DIY projects, we demystify every aspect of remodeling and give you a ton of full-house, bathroom, and kitchen renovation ideas. Semihandmade was built on a strong make-it-yourself spirit and we’re carrying that legacy beyond DIY kitchen cabinets (though we’ll certainly touch on those too) by bringing you a ton of weekend projects for novices (have you ever tried making your own planter?) and experts (try your hand at a full-wall media center). What do people really mean when they say a house has “good bones”? Before and after projects show first-hand what’s possible in a transformative remodel. How do you make the most of a narrow galley? Should you swap your upper cabinets for floating shelves? What would it look like if you opened up your small kitchen? Renovation ideas abound in our spotlighted projects. A lot goes into a kitchen renovation, but it’s usually hard to tell from a beautiful “after” shot. Our monthly series “Island Hopping” is about getting a behind-the-scenes account of what the process is like through honest conversations—you know, the kind that typically take place around a kitchen island. We’ll chat with designers, homeowners, and architects about their projects, hoping to peel back the curtain on picture-perfect spaces.
