There is a reason white kitchens have been a favorite for decades.

Perhaps the most classic design choice out there, they are ageless and enduring. They fit seamlessly into any style of home and can be molded to fit any aesthetic. From traditional to minimal, snow-colored cabinets always work (and can even help raise your home’s value).

Our favorite white kitchens, like the ones we’ve gathered here, find the balance between fresh and comforting, innovative, and classic. These seven designs are exemplary, each with its own singular vibes that prove the endless possibilities of this versatile hue.

In a Northern California lakefront fixer-upper, Jessica Jones combined ornate brass hardware with Semihandmade DIY Shaker cabinet fronts painted in a warm white to create an updated traditional kitchen. Glass ready doors and pale wood open shelves offer distinctive opportunities to display treasured items that continue the neutral color scheme. Pronounced curved edges on the range hood, oversize chandeliers, and turned legs on the island add a classic flair to the overall vibe.

California Cool

When model and entrepreneur Alden Steimle renovated the kitchen in the 1978 ranch that she named The Avocado House, she infused it with farmhouse and rustic desert influences that suit its mountainous yet coastal Southern California locale. Semihandmade Tahoe Impression doors bring in warmth on the lower cabinets, while white Shaker fronts on the uppers lighten the room. A tile herringbone backsplash with tone-on-tone grout adds texture without disrupting the effortless cool look.

The result is an unexpected combination of contemporary style and artisan touches that feels new and welcoming.

A Manhattan couple enlisted Maggie Richmond Design to reimagine their compact Gramercy Park kitchen with simple, glamorous finishes that won’t age. Veiny, white and gray stone defines the countertops and backsplash, while white Semihandmade Shaker cabinet fronts are adorned with linear, brass pulls. Counter stools modeled after Parisian bistro chairs give off a sophisticated, French flair as they offer a seat beneath glass, globe-shaped pendant lights at the peninsula.

Interior designer Samantha Gluck went with a classic mixture of white, black, and gray for her own Orange County, California kitchen. Affixed with minimal, matte black knobs, the Semihandmade Shaker cabinet doors feel more modern than traditional, yet maintain a homey element. Warm, stained white oak floating shelves with matte black connectors flank the hood for ample open storage so that collected items can provide personality and color to the room.

To transform a dated, dingy Miami kitchen, The Habitat Collective went with white Semihandmade Shaker cabinet doors, light wood flooring, and brass, half-dome pendants that give the breezy, beachy decor a contemporary edge. The white quartz used for the countertops and backsplash, as well as the matte black knobs, door hardware, and faucet further the modern aesthetic while wooden, backless stools provide warmth.
